I deal with the realization and characterization of efficient, earth-abundant and cheap catalysts for photocatalytic water splitting. Their electronic and chemical properties, their structure and their stability in ultra-high vacuum and in more realistic in-operando conditions are investigated in the perspective of a possible implementation for solar-to hydrogen conversion.
